Robert "Dale" Schexnider

Robert “Dale” Schexnider, 69, of Lake Charles, passed away Monday October 30, 2017 at his residence with his family at his side.

Dale was born in Lake Charles on March 24, 1948 and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and retired from St. Louis High School. Dale was quiet, patient, and a man of few words. He had one of the most beautiful smiles that would light up a room. He was always willing to help others and will be remembered as a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Whitney Schexnider and sister, Donna Schexnider. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 49 years, Glenda Billeaudeau Schexnider; son, Robert “Chad” Schexnider and wife Ashley of Lake Charles; daughter, Alyssa Harbison and husband Ken of DeRidder; five grandchildren, Zackary Schexnider, Molly Neidigh, Landon Schexnider, Jillian Schexnider, and Ava Schexnider; mother, Earline McFarlain Schexnider; sister, Tammy Guidry and husband Leonard of Lake Charles; brother, Darrell Schexnider and wife Joan of Lodi, CA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Chad Schexnider, Ken Harbison, Zackary Schexnider, Clayton Guidry, Darrell Schexnider, and Dwayne Courville. Serving as honorary pallbearer: Landon Schexnider.

Visitation will be on Wednesday November 1, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of the service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 1:00 PM on Thursday November 2, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Theron Watson serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special word of appreciation to the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice, especially Renee Daniels, Kenneth Turner, Aaliyah Thomas and Addison Duplichian for the care and compassion given to not only our beloved Dale, but also to the family during this extremely difficult time. The family would also like to give a special word of appreciation to Laura Stawecki, APRN, CANP for her many years of care.
