Robert G. Anderson

Robert G. Anderson, 70, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born in Lake Charles on May 13, 1956, to Robert and Zelda Rawls Anderson.

A lifelong Lake Charles resident, Robert graduated from Barbe High School in 1974. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he attended McNeese State University and remained connected to the university as a member of the McNeese State University Alumni Association. He especially enjoyed serving with the McNeese Mavericks

Sports were a big part of Robert’s life, especially football. He faithfully followed the McNeese Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, and his Barbe Bucs. He was also an avid outdoorsman and golfer. When he was no longer able to play golf himself, he continued to enjoy watching it on television. Some of his favorite times were spent at his camp on Toledo Bend.

Robert is survived by his brother, Don Anderson and wife Jackie; his sister, Phyllis Litton and husband William; his best friends, Paul and Paula Michalko; and many lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Zelda Rawls Anderson; and his brother, Clayton Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street, with Deacon Harold Nixon presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:30 PM until the start of the service, with a rosary being recited at 3:30 PM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Robert will be laid to rest in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
