“Weep if you must but not for long, parting is hell but life goes on”
Robert Lane Reeves, or if you were a friend, “Bobby”, 71, of Lake Charles “rock & rolled” to his next greatest adventure, Monday, November 6, 2017 from the comfort of his home.
Bobby was born in Lake Charles on January 17, 1946. He was the only son of Royce J. Reeves and Dorothy Thornton Reeves and was the apple of his mother’s eye. He was a 1964 graduate of Marion High School. Bobby spread joy and chaos wherever he went. Bobby was perfectly imperfect, loved life and he lived it his way. He loved being with his friends, family and his many pets. His greatest joy was his great-grandchildren. He was a pipe fitter, truck driver and trusted car mechanic through the years. He was also a master diesel mechanic. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He always enjoyed working on motors, restoring old classic cars and painting eighteen wheelers.
He is survived by his sister, Glenda Reeves Menard and her husband Herman, who he always said was his “best” brother-in-law. He also leaves his best friend and “favorite” wife, Sheryl Parker Reeves (she was his only wife); two granddaughters, Traci and Tiffany Reeves and three great-grandchildren, Stacie Elizabeth Reber, Lane Harrison Helms and Navy Scott Reber; nephew, Michael Menard and wife Jolene of Lafayette; many first cousins and a host of friends.
Along with his parents Bobby’s only child, Stacie Lynn Reeves, died in 1997 and his life was forever changed.
A celebration honoring his life will be at 6:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of friends will be from 4:00 PM until the start of services.
