Robert Jay Lewis went into Jesus's loving arms on August 30, 2025. He was born in Ferriday Louisiana. At a young age, the family moved to Monroe where Robert attended Ouachita Parish Schools graduating from Ouachita High School in 1973.
Robert was known by many as the barbecue man. In 2000, he established BBQwest, LLC along with his wife, Diana. In his mind, the customer was always right and took much joy and pride in making his customers happy.
Robert and Diana met through a mutual friend, fell in love and married. They had two beautiful daughters who learned at an early age to always call daddy when they were in trouble. They usually started their sentences with, "Don't tell Mama but ....".
Robert was a man of the most opinionated ways. Stubborn as a mule. Diana used to tell people that she would let him stomp around like a bull in a china closet until he calmed down and then open the door to put in her two bits.
Robert was 100% democrat. Some people would make a mistake discussing politics with him. If you were not a democrat, hold on to your hat. You were going to get a full blown lecture.
People saw a gruff, ornery man. What they didn't know was that he had such a good soft heart. He would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He loved animals and tried to save any that were in trouble.
Preceding Robert in death were his mother, Lois Ellen Nance Lewis, father, Robert Jay Lewis, Sr, daughter, Alicia Dale Lewis Smith, and sister, Linda Angie Lewis Krustchinsky
Robert leaves behind the love of his life for 50 years, wife Diana Dale Olson Lewis; loving daughter, Shanna Tiffany Lewis Simon (Aaron); and phenomenal grandchildren of whom he was very proud:
Bryce, Gage, Zane, Ethan, Zander, Zachary, Alivia, and Liam. Also remembering their dear brother are Mary Ellen Lewis Parker Schramm (Fred), sister Rilla Adell Lewis Thornton Cooper (Joe), Eva Christene Lewis Vessel (James), George Bert Lewis, and many nieces and nephews.
