Robert "Bob" Gibbs Mutersbaugh, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife.
Bob was born on December 2, 1943, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Margaret Alice Gibbs and Robert Tucker Mutersbaugh. He came from one of Lake Charles' pioneer families and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.
He graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1961 and attended McNeese State University. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965.
In 1991, he graduated from Southwest Assemblies of God in Waxahachie, Texas. He was the owner of Mutersbaugh Building Specialties and later dedicated 15 years to teaching special needs students at J.I. Watson Middle School, Hamilton Christian Academy and Westwood Elementary School. Bob also faithfully served as a pastor in the Assembly of God for 20 years in Franklin, Louisiana, ministering with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Jan D. Parkerson Mutersbaugh, and his son by heart, Cedric Bordelon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Jane Carolyn Swihart, Margaret Ann Schaefer, and Mary Emily Law.
The family has entrusted Johnson Funeral Home with cremation arrangements.
