Robin Hood

August 23, 1939 — November 29, 2024

Our beloved father and husband, Robin Richard Hood, 85, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on November 29, 2024. He was born on August 23, 1939, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Robin Hood Sr. of Walker, Louisiana, and Billye Singleton Welsh of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Robin was a dedicated veteran of the Naval Reserve for four years. He married his beloved wife, the late Wilma Lee Hood, on April 1, 1961, and they shared 63 years of marriage.

The couple lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, until Hurricane Laura forced them to relocate to their daughter's residence in Washington State for two years. After creating many wonderful memories there, they returned to the Lake Charles area, where they were again surrounded by loving family and friends.

Affectionately known as "Rich" by Wilma, Robin was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had a remarkable gift for sharing his lifelong memories with everyone he encountered. His sense of humor and quick wit made sure that no one he met ever felt like a stranger.

He is survived by his siblings: Bill Welsh (Evelyn), David Welsh (Angie), Christine L. Welsh, and Lynn Faulk (Mike); Robin Hood Jr. (Charlotte), Robelynn Brackin (Wayne), He is also survived by his children, Michael of Dallas, Texas; Daren (Debbie) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Layne (Cathy) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Roxanne O'Harra (Ben) of Buckley, Washington; and John of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Robin was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren: Ryan, Amber, Drew, Leiflyn, Jacob, Amber, Brian, Catherine, Molly, Jarrett, Macy, and Mandy, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

Robin was preceded in death by his beloved bride, Wilma Lee Hood, who passed just 97 days prior; his loving parents, Robin Hood Sr. and Billye Singleton; including Oscar E. Welsh and Ernestine Hood; and his brother, Ronald Hood.

Our family would also like to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to Joyce and Sandy at Brighton Bridge Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
