Roderick Layne Cooper

VINTON – Roderick Layne Cooper, born May 5, 1965 in Kinder, son of the late James Elray and Nona Maxine (Marler) Cooper, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019, in his residence, at the age of 53.

Roderick was a graduate of Fenton High School, attended McNeese State University and worked for Turner Industries as a pipefitter. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Vinton. Roderick enjoyed fishing, and cooking. He especially enjoyed being with family and friends.

Survivors are his daughter, Danica Rae Cooper of Austin, Texas; step-son, James Coleman; grandson, Corbyn Coleman; siblings, Tirana Bertrand and husband, Glen of Breaux Bridge; Rosalind Doucet and husband, John of Woodlawn; Dorinda DeReese of Iowa; James Myrick Cooper and wife, Danna of Baton Rouge; numerous nieces & nephews; wife, Kimberly Pike Cooper; step-children, Laura; Amber and Donnie.

Roderick is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Givonna Burnett.
Celebration of Life services will be in the fellowship hall of Woodlawn Baptist Church, 20080 Witherwax Rd., Iowa, LA 70647 on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home to help with Roderick’s final expenses.
