Ronald Matthew Guillory, Sr., 84, of DeRidder, LA, died at 8:57 PM on Monday, July 17, 2017 in a DeRidder, LA care facility.
Mr. Guillory was born October 12, 1932 in Soileau, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles and Merryville. He was a graduate of Oberlin High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Lake Charles Police Department in his younger years, was an electrician and supervisor at Brown and Root and also worked as a T.V. repairman and lawnmower repairman. He was a past member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and enjoyed visiting various churches later in his life. Mr. Guillory loved riding motorcycles and was a member of the XL Retread Motorcycle Group. When his children were younger, he served as Cub Scout Leader and Boy Scout Leader for Troop 130. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to garden and camp.
Mr. Guillory is survived by his sons, Ronald Guillory, Jr. and wife Emily of Ocala, FL and Matthew Guillory and wife Cindy of Westlake, LA; daughters, Karen Drewett and husband Darryl of Lake Charles, Rhonda LaPoint and husband Ronald of Houston, TX, Judy Reeves and husband Carl of Lake Charles, and Danyelle Crow and husband David of Moss Bluff; brother, Frank Guillory of Iowa, LA; sisters, Priscilla Savoy of Iowa, LA and Cecile Meaux of Oberlin, LA; best friend, Bruce Franks, of DeRidder, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Guillory and son, Craig Guillory.
His memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Marcus Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
