Ronnie Rossitto, 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 3. Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ronnie spent his life serving the community he proudly called home.
Ronnie dedicated many decades of his professional life to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office, beginning in 1979. Over the years, he served in leadership roles including Head of the Misdemeanor Section, Head of the Juvenile Division, and later First Assistant District Attorney. He became widely respected across Louisiana for his exceptional knowledge of juvenile law, helping shape and improve the state’s juvenile code and leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Ronnie was known not only for his expertise but for his compassion, grace, and dedication to helping others. He met everyone he encountered with a smile and a kind word, whether guiding parents, mentoring attorneys, assisting colleagues, or listening to citizens seeking guidance. Many who worked with him described him as the “heart of the office” and a father figure, always ensuring that the DA’s Office functioned as a family. Colleagues remember his patience, selflessness, and ability to handle even the most difficult situations with dignity and care. He inspired and lifted those around him, leaving a mark on everyone he met.
Outside of his professional life, Ronnie found joy in the simple pleasures. He loved working in his wood shop, creating, repairing, and helping others through his hobby. He treasured time with his close group of friends, the Magnificent Seven, enjoying travel and shows. When the family was together, he delighted in the lively chaos of cooking, eating, playing games, and watching movies with his children and grandchildren.
Above all else, Ronnie’s greatest love was his family. He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Yska; his four children and their spouses: Erica Rossitto and Josh Seidenberg, Angela and Dave Schumacher, Tony and Ayla Rossitto, and Alexa and Chris Carroll; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Ronnie will be remembered as a gentle, caring, and selfless man who truly enjoyed helping others through his work, his hobbies, and his everyday acts of kindness. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the justice he helped bring to others, the things he built with his hands, the laughter shared with friends, and the love, joy, and lively energy he shared with his family. Those who knew him are forever grateful for his presence, guidance, and friendship.
A Memorial Service honoring Ronnie's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel with Rev. Tony Bourque officiating.
