Rosalie Ann Sclafani Perry, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on October 30, 1946 in New Orleans, LA to Dominic and Anna Gagliano Sclafani.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Rosalie carried her proud Italian roots throughout her life, sharing her love of family, tradition, and kindness with everyone she met. She married the love of her life on November 4, 1967, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, faith, and devotion to family.
Rosalie dedicated her life to education and student support. She began her 30-year career in education at South Cameron High School, teaching math and then as guidance counselor serving students and families with compassion and care. In the summer of 1995, she played an instrumental role in helping create the student schedule structure system for what would become Grand Lake High School. In 1998, she transitioned from South Cameron High School to help establish and serve as a guidance counselor at Grand Lake High School where she retired in 2011.
Rosalie’s greatest pride was her family. Affectionately called “GeGe,” she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a steady source of strength to all who knew her. She is remembered for guiding students academically and personally. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, her guidance, and the lasting impact she made on every life she touched.
Her door was always open to whoever needed her, often opening her home and heart to students in need, treating many as part of her own family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Vincent Sclafani; and her son, Wes Perry. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Wesley “Guthrie” Perry, Jr.; her daughters, JoAnna Bearb (Chris), Rhonda Monlezun (JD); and her grandchildren, Jace Perry, Landon Bearb, Alaina Bearb, Madison Saunders (Matt), John Monlezun (Daphne), Luke Monlezun, and Brady Monlezun.
