Rose Catherine Timpa Holland

August 24, 1955 — May 7, 2017

Rose Timpa Holland, 61, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, May 07, 2017 in a local hospital.

 

Rose was born in Lake Charles where she lived most of her life. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School, McNeese State University and University of New Orleans. She attained a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities, Educational Consultant and Administration and Supervision. She recently retired with over twenty five years as a special education teacher, Educational Diagnostician and Assistant Principal. Rose, alongside her husband, also owned and operated Coldwell Banker Legacy where she served as a prominent Realtor in her community for over ten years. She recently joined the team of Century 21 Bono. Rose was a devoted woman of faith and prayer; she was a Director and Formation Director of the St. Theresa Little Flower Community of the Lay Carmelites (Third Order). Throughout her life, Rose was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she served in the Sierra Club for the Vocation of Priests, Eucharistic Lay Ministry, Music Ministry, Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Eucharist and Wednesday rosary group. She was a Cursillista, ACTS sister, domestic church family member and was a high school religion instructor as well. Rose made many spiritual pilgrimages with her family and church, including; Medjugorje Yugoslavia, Lourdes France and Rome Italy. Her overwhelming faith in prayer and life experiences as a devoted servant moved Rose to author her published book, “Turn Your Face To My Son”. She was also a talented artist as she enjoyed drawing and painting. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking, cooking crafting, collecting antiques and going to dinner and a movie. Her greatest joy was her family and the time she shared with her grandchildren. Rose was an admirable inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 30 years, Robert H. Holland, Sr. of Lake Charles; three children, Laurel Moss Jenkins and husband Phillips of Covington, “Beau” Lucien Kennedy Moss, III of New Orleans and Robert H. “Bobby” Holland, Jr. of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Isabel Rose Jenkins, Caroline Montgomery Jenkins and Juliet Katherine Jenkins; mother, Camille Pitarra Timpa of Lake Charles; brother, Charles Timpa and wife Libby; two nephews, Trey Timpa of Washington, D.C. and John Paul Timpa of Lake Charles and many dear friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, John Paul Timpa.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:00 Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 5:30PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
