Roy Lee McCollough

Roy Lee McCollough, the second son of Bryce and Bertha McCollough of the Peason Community, was born May 29, 1949, and passed into the Arms of the Lord on January 1, 2026. Roy was raised in the Peason Community and attended school at Mount Carmel High School and at Florien High School where he graduated in the Class of 1968. While in high school he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America, where he served as an officer of the organization. He also was a softball coach in Sulphur, La. for 12 years.

As a young man Roy accepted the Lord and was baptized in his Uncle Dave McCollough’s pond in Peason. He later rededicated his life in his mid 30’s to the Lord.

On August 23, 1970, Roy married the love of his life, Shiela Cutright. They were married for over 55 years. They began their new life in Sulphur, La. where in a few years daughters Carisa McCollough Bordelon and Courtney McCollough were born.,. and later a granddaughter, Camryn Elizabeth Bordelon was born. How happy and proud he was of his wife, daughters, and granddaughter!

Roy worked for CITGO in Sulphur as a supervisor for 45 years before he retired. He worked hard and was a dedicated employee. Roy took great pride in being a great provider for his family and they never worried about anything.

Roy had many hobbies and many talents. Roy was well known as an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to go fishing at his camp on Toledo Bend Lake, trout fishing on Big Lake, duck hunting at Johnson Bayou, deer hunting at Peason, Kisatchie, and Peason Ridge, and just being out and about in the forests and timberlands and at his deer stand. And Roy also had many interests such as being an avid LSU Tiger fan, GO TIGER’s, reading, and just being out of doors.

Roy is survived by his wife Sheila Cutright McCollough, his daughter Carisa McCollough Bordelon, and Courtney McCollough, his granddaughter Camryn Elizabeth Bordelon, his brother Thomas McCollough and wife Mary, sister Nedra McCollough Marcello and husband John and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, a host of friends, co-workers, and neighbors.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Bryce and Bertha Robertson McCollough, his brother Terry and wife Kimberly, and his McCollough and Robertson grandparents and his beloved dark Lab Baily.

The family would like to thank Roy’s caregiver, Lisa Sonnier for such caring help, Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles, and Pine Grove Baptist Church for all the assistance, care, and hospitality that has been shown to them.

Visitation for Roy will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home in Sulphur from 8:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Visitation will resume at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Peason from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Funeral services for Roy will be held on Sunday January 4, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church located on La. Hwy. 118 in the Peason Community, with interment to follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. Rickey Robertson, who is Roy’s cousin. Along with Brent Hoffpauir at the Sulphur visitation, a close friend and neighbor. Dinner will be served at Pine Grove Baptist Church following the burial.
