Ruby Lee Bennett Lancaster

Ruby Lee Bennett Lancaster went to her Heavenly home on September 23, 2026.

Ruby was born to Reuben and Maudie Atwell Bennett on June 14, 1939 in Jonesboro, LA. She was married to James "Jim" Carman Lancaster for almost 63 years before he went to his Heavenly home.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and her husband, James Carman Lancaster. 

She is survived by a brother, Allen Bennett and a sister-in-law, Dottie Harrington.

Ruby began her career with an insurance group helping the community after Hurricane Audry. She later worked for PPG Industries until her retirement.

Ruby was active in the Business and Professional Women's Club of Lake Charles, serving as President and District Director. She was also active for many years in the Grace W. Group and served in different local and state positions.

Ruby and her husband, Carman-as she called him-enjoyed the wonderful fellowship and riding with the Goldwing Road Riders. They served their local chapter as area reps and toured many states. They enjoyed donating their time to help build homes across the country with Habitat for Humanity. Ruby loved the years of motorhome travel with her husband, seeing 49 states and much of Canada. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of God's creation. Later they traveled to Hawaii and Europe as well.

Ruby and her husband had been happy with membership and service at First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff.

In her final days she was attended to by her friends, Mrs. Evie Dowers and Brandon and Wendy Aguillard.

Per Ruby's final wishes she will be privately buried next to her beloved husband under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
