Ruth Harper

Ruth Agnes Harper Ortego of Lake Charles, age 87, was called home to Him August 10, 2016. Ms Harper was born to Morris and Mary Pearl (Hebert) Ortego in Iota, La. Her careers included dental assisting, special needs bus driver and cashier at Weingartens and Sears. However her role as Mother, wife and homemaker were her greatest joy. She loved traveling, cooking and fine dining, The Harlequin being her all-time favorite. Sunday family dinner was traditional where she served a full course meal always complete with a perfectly set candle lit table.

Left to cherish her memories are three children: Rose Miller, Gerald Miller and Robert Miller (Angie) all of Lake Charles. Brother; Roland Ortego (Racie) of Basile, La. Sisters; Pricilla Chapman Courville (Tom) and Freda Audas , also of Lake Charles. Grandchildren; Robbie, Kevin, Rita and Rachel, 9 Great grandchildren and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, brother, Walter Ortego and sister, Helen McKie.

As per Ms. Harper’s request, there will be no memorial service. The family will have a private dinner to celebrate her life. Cremation was entrusted with Johnson Funeral Home.
