Ruth Marie Fontenot

Ruth Marie Fontenot, 73, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 in a local hospital.

She was born on January 23, 1945 to John and Thelma Istre Comeaux in Bell City, LA.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, LA where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court 1986. She enjoyed sewing, working in the floral industry, and working as a bus driver for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 54 years, Jerry Fontenot; daughters, Jo Lynn Goolsby (Milton), Sheila Theriot, and Tracy Owen (Richard) all of Vinton, LA; grandchildren, Tressa Theriot of Omaha, NE, and Jeri Theriot, Jacob Owen, and Joshua Owen (Tiffany) all of Vinton, LA; siblings, Shirley Miller (Nolan), Donald Comeaux (Roseanne), Jacinta Comeaux (Michael), Cathy Geiger (Richard), Brenda Vanicor, Herbert Comeaux (Sheryl), Rodney Comeaux, Daniel Comeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Deanna Felice and Nell Jean Reed; and grandson, Tommy Austin Goolsby.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 9 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, LA. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM at the church. Following the rosary, a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate.
