Iowa – Ruth Bihm, 80, passed away at 5:14 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in a local care facility surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born in Elton to the late Ernest and Margaret Manuel Lavergne on October 7, 1934 and was a graduate of Elton High School. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, where she was a Catholic Daughter and sang in the church choir. Her interests included traveling, being with her family, attending family reunions and enjoying learning about history. Ruth had a heart of gold and was welcoming to everyone she met.
Her survivors are her sons, Steven Petry (Judy) of Elk City, OK, Kevin Petry (Brenda) of Moss Bluff, Brent Petry of Fenton and John Petry (Lisa) of Moss Bluff; daughters, Debra Primeaux (Herman) of Gillis, Tammy Trahan and Cynthia Petry, both of Lake Charles; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild on the way and the father of her children, Dale Petry. She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Leland; siblings, Joyce L. Mallet, Travis Lavergne, L. A. Lavergne and Ruby Miller.
Funeral services will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church with Father Anthony Rejo Anthony officiating on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Pinehill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Thursday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home and will resume on Friday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
