Sadie Marie Furby Fredericks

Sadie Marie Furby Fredericks, 85, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:03 AM on Sunday, May 3, 2026 in her daughter's residence in Kinder.

Born on August 17, 1940, in Alexandria, she was a graduate of Providence High School. She went on to attend Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute in Lafayette, where she was an active member of the Tri Delta Sorority.

In 1970, she made Lake Charles her home. She worked as a dedicated secretary for Bel Oil Corporation for many years. In her earlier years, she also shared her talents as a skilled seamstress.

She had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing both the piano and violin. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Following her retirement, she found great joy in gardening and spending time outdoors. Above all, she treasured the moments spent with her family, which she considered the most meaningful part of her life.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dr. Deanna Harless (Steve), Barbra Palmer, Dr. Leroy "Butch" Fredericks, Tammy Peloquin (Chad), and Rhonda Colletta (Tony); grandchildren, Ryan Harless (Dr. Amber), Hannah Harless, Garrett Harless, Haley Greenman (Dylan), Seth Palmer, Kaleb Palmer (Kaitlyn Bellard), Jordan Palmer, Dr. Gambrelle Palmer (Dr. Caleb Miller), Eli Palmer, Caroline Fredericks, Anna Kate Fredericks, Trooper Peloquin (Anna White), Levi Peloquin (Jesi Chapman), Chloe Peloquin (Hunter O.), Mallory Colletta, and Tyson Colletta; great grandchildren, Dawson Lee Greenman, Marilyn Jane, Natalya, and Kanaan Palmer; special nieces and nephew, LuAnn Frederick, Brenda Frederick, and Abel Garcia; great niece and nephew, Cassie Frederick and Beau Frederick; and her special furry companion, Charlie Rose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Fredericks; parents, Ernest and Mathilde Furby; and siblings, Ernest, Jr., Janet, Jimmy, and Marilyn.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Brooke, Ali, Shelli, Sandy, Anna, Tammy, and Rachel at Brighton Bridge Hospice for their care and compassion given to Mrs. Fredericks under their care.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 9:30 AM until leaving for the church at 11:30 AM with a rosary being recited at 11:00 AM.
