Samuel "Gene" Tanner

Samuel Eugene “Gene” Tanner, 74, of Sulphur passed away on January 16, 2017. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making jelly, which he gave to his friends at SPAR. Gene loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Gene is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Tanner of Sulphur; his son, David Tanner and wife Teresa of Clarksville, TN; his daughter, Cara Tassin and husband Dean of Lake Charles; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Aaron, Emily, Zachary,  and Ashleigh; his 2 sisters, Barbara Fuqua and Bonnie Benignus and husband Roy; his 3 brothers, Douglas Tanner and wife Joyce, Bruce Tanner and wife Diana, and Steven Tanner and wife Timmy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Leona “ Billy” Tanner; and his sister, Sharon Smith.
