Sandra Louise Leger Fontenot

Sandra Louise Leger Fontenot, born in Eunice on September 9, 1945, daughter of the late Cyril and Marie Florien (Comeaux) Leger, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Sandra was a member of St. John Vianney, where she taught CCD, and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was a Cub Scout Leader, active with the Wounded Warrior Project, and NAMI. Sandra was an absolute great mother, and was supportive of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their activities. She enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, especially her roses. Most of all, she loved reading her bible, and praying for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Jimmy Fontenot, and brother, Whitney Leger.

Sandra is survived by her children, Kirk Keith Fontenot (Angie), Kim Renee Fontenot (Angie), Ricky Colin Fontenot (Melissa), and Pamela Rachelle Fontenot; sister, Winnie Primeaux (David), Amanda Leger, sister-in-law, Barbara Leger; grandchildren, Noelle Strenth (Grant), Jacob Fontenot, Nicholas Fontenot (Ashlyn), Brandon Fontenot (Katelyn), Ty Fontenot, Derrick Fontenot; great- grandchildren, Baylor, Rhyler, Riggen, Rynlee, Brayden, Easton, Elias, Graham, Theodore; godchildren, Trish Manuel (Mickey), Brent Fontenot (Jodie), Zachary “Bubba” Thibeaux; many nieces, and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John Vianney on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 10 a.m. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lorrain Derouen Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. and Celebration of Life to follow. Visitation will resume on Thursday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
