Sandra, better known as Sandy, left this world at the age of 77 to be with Jesus on July 18, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones in Montana. She was born on October 3, 1947, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Sandy lived an extraordinary life. A longtime resident of Ragley, Louisiana, Sandy spent her younger years there and raised her children there. She proudly became the first female mechanic in Lake Charles, trained by Bob Jacobson. Later, she made Baton Rouge her home from 1989 to 2018, where she took on a variety of roles, including apartment manager, employee at City News Stand, and a caregiver at Home Instead Senior Care for six years—caring for her clients with great love and dedication.
Sandy also worked at the Grosse Tête Visitor Center, where she enjoyed meeting new people and introducing them to the baby alligators. For 18 years, she was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. During that time, she earned the title of Director and was awarded two cars. She had a gift for helping women feel confident and beautiful.
Sandy worked hard her entire life, beginning with helping to care for her six siblings. She had a generous spirit and a heart for others—always looking after those around her, including animals. She loved Cajun French music, especially singing and dancing to it. She bowled on a league for nearly ten years and joyfully supported her children in Girl Scouts, rodeos, and ball games. Sandy adored her grandchildren, never missing a graduation or special event, and she deeply cherished her great-grandchildren, attending every dance recital, baseball game, and birthday party. She was a constant and loving presence in the lives of her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Taylor; her three children: Melissa Conard and husband Ben Conard, Matthew Myers, and Miriam Bass and husband Davy Bass; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five siblings: Glenda LeBlanc, Neal Richard, Janet Strahan, Curtis Richard, and Jonice Ryan. She also leaves behind her best friend, Audrey Duncan, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Aaron Richard, and mother, Elise Babineaux Richard; her first husband, Aubrey Maurice Myers; her brother, Robert Richard; and Bobby Elizabeth Taylor.
