Sarah Dumond Vidrine of Lake Charles, LA passed away on September 19th, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Sarah, also known as "Sally," was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on October 16, 1929, to Louise Downs and James Wilson. She was the youngest of the four Wilson sisters. Forever a blue-eyed stunner, Sarah's thoughts were never far from her hometown roots. She was drawn to her family, the majesty of the Falls and surrounding landscape, and the local flavor filled with autumn days and custard cones. Sarah moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, with her first husband Albert Dumond in 1953. It was there where they raised their four daughters and one son together. As a mother, Sarah loved all of her children deeply and she was fiercely proud of them. She always stood in staunch support of them as they worked through life's big and small decisions. In addition to being a wife and mother, Sarah was employed at St. John Bosco Catholic church for 12 years. There she served as the church secretary and was known for her involvement in the annual bazaar. Aside from managing the details of the rectory, her magnetic personality and ability to be present with those she encountered made her a well-appreciated asset to the church and community. Sarah was passionate about life and certain of the things that brought her delight. She always enjoyed a good meal, a good laugh, a day at the beach, a game with a gamble, and a good deal at her favorite store. Many lost and needy animals lucky enough to cross her path were taken in as members of her own pack. But the true joy of Sarah's life was her family. Although she never had a hair out of place or a lipstick smudge, she was more than willing to be silly and spontaneous with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took the time to learn about new things (the internet, new movies, cultural differences, etc.) so she could communicate and keep up with the times in which they lived. For the last three and a half years, she resided at Villa Maria in Lake Charles where she made many friends and received kind and compassionate assistance. Sarah is survived by her husband of 26 years Lanson Vidrine, her sister Dorothy Halliday, and her five children: Marlene Miller, Karen Carr and her husband Mike Carr, Susan Hector and her husband Tom Hector, Lynn Dunbar and her husband Doug Dunbar, and Glenn Dumond and his wife Stephanie Dumond. She is also proudly survived by her nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren (with an eighth on the way). She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Albert Joseph Dumond, son-in-law Bert Miller, and her two sisters June Morrison and Betty Lindsay. Regardless of how she was feeling, Sarah forever maintained her quick wit, authenticity, and ability to love unconditionally. She will be deeply missed by many. Her family wishes her eternal peace and sends her off with some of her very own words: "Love you much, Sally." Funeral Mass for Sarah will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday September 22, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday September 21, 2015 from 5-8 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Interment to follow at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery, in Westlake, Louisiana.
