Sarah M. Brunson

June 8, 1941 — August 10, 2021

Sarah M. Brunson, 80, of Sulphur received her Heavenly reward Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in her home with her loving family at her side.

Sarah, a Gueydan native, has resided in Sulphur for 61 years. She was an active member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and served as a Eucharist member and the Catholic Daughters of America, Sarah was also a member of the Sulphur VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed being around others and never met a stranger but, taking care of her family, and being a mother and grandmother were her greatest joys.  Sarah was an excellent cook, amazing homemaker, and a very caring wife, mother, and grandmother.  She loved fishing and even taught her granddaughter’s how to fish.  Sarah’s faith was first in her life, and she enjoyed a very close relationship with the Lord. As she struggled with cancer, she never complained and offered her suffering up to God. Sarah’s unwavering faith and love of family is a legacy that her children and grandchildren will always cherish.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Harry “Sonny” Brunson; four children, Brian Brunson of Sulphur, Tressie Brunson of Sulphur; Kim Perry (Darby) of Sulphur, and Tim Brunson (Monique) of Lake Charles; two granddaughters, Nikkole Myers(Chad) and Anna Catherine Perry;  and one great grandchild on the way, Hawkins Myers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dumell and Mabel Vincent; granddaughter, Baylee Clare Perry; and siblings, Irene Abshire, Lillian Vincent, Thelma Suarez, Laura Ancelet, Beulah Richard, Betty Vincent, and Louis Vincent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am, Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Father Edward Richard, M.S. will officiate. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery of Edgerly.  Visitation will be in the Father Vecchio Hall at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Friday, August 13, 2021, 5pm to 8pm with a Recitation of the Rosary at 6pm. Visitation will resume 8am – 10 am, Saturday.
