Hayes – Savan Fontenot, 56, passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
Born February 12, 1958 in Jennings, to the late Harry Lee and Lillian Manuel Fontenot, he was a lifelong resident of Hayes. Savan married Elmarie “Marie” Boudreaux of Lake Arthur. He worked in the oilfield, a job which he held the majority of his life. He loved to hunt, fish, gardening and camping with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandkids. Savan was very caring, loving and he would go out of his way to help those in need. He loved riding his mule to his neighbor, Mr. Dubrock, and they would compare gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elmarie “Marie” Fontenot of Hayes; children, Jude Fontenot and Savannah Fontenot of Hayes; grandchildren, Halie Thibodeaux, Wyatt Poole and Gavin Conner; siblings, Ronnie Fontenot, H. Lynn Fontenot, Michael Fontenot (Martha), Rhonda Fontenot and Ruth Trahan. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Renee Woods and brother, Larry James Fontenot.
