Scott Eric Romero

Scott Eric Romero “Captain” “Cappy”, of Canyon Lake, TX, died at 2:21 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in a Houston, TX hospital.

Scott was born January 13, 1966 in Baton Rouge, LA, living most of his life in Lake Charles until 2013 when he moved to Canyon Lake, TX. He was a 1984 graduate of LaGrange High School and worked as a Supply Boat Captain since 1985. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and most recently St. Thomas Catholic Church in Canyon Lake. Scott enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and loved to spend time outdoors, fishing, kayaking and enjoying nature. He also loved music and was a great teacher and mentor. His smile and friendly nature will be missed by those who loved him.

Mr. Romero is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Gaynell Holbrook Romero; son, Justin Romero of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Kristin Romero of Canyon Lake, TX; father, Charles Romero; mother, Barbara Roy and husband Louis Roy, Jr., all of Lake Charles; sister, Donna Cole and husband Curtis; brother, Chad Romero and fiancée Terry Johnson, all of Lake Charles; brother-in-law, Danny Hayes and wife Barbara of Canyon Lake, TX; sisters-in-law, Brenda Hogan and Janelle Farmer, both of Lake Charles; special friend, George Gerard and wife Lisa of New Braunfels, TX; his beloved Labrador, Bella; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; and his “Sea Family”.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Cody William Romero; father-in-law, William Henry Holbrook; and mother-in-law, Mary Helen Touchet.

His memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Matthew Cormier will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 AM to 12:45 PM.
