With hearts full of love for a life so beautifully lived, we celebrate the life of Shanna Nunez, who passed away on Thursday July 23, 2026 after her battle with pancreatic cancer.
Shanna was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend whose life was defined by love, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Born and raised in Creole, Louisiana, Shanna remained deeply connected to the place she called home until the devastation of Hurricane Rita. She later settled in Kinder, Louisiana, where she continued to build a life surrounded by family and lifelong friendships.
Shanna was the kindest, most genuine soul you could ever meet. To know her was to love her, and her warm and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, genuine kindness and a heart that always put others before herself.
Above all else, Shanna’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her devoted son, Garrett Duddleston; her cherished daughter-in-law, Emily; and her precious grandchildren, Travis and Millie, who were the absolute light of her life. She adored every moment she spent with them, and being their Nan was one of her life’s greatest blessings.
She is also lovingly survived by her mother, Virgie Nunez; her siblings, Rod Nunez, Janice Crochet and her husband, Valmond, and Karl Nunez and his wife, Leisa; sister of heart, Trudy Broussard and husband Robert; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her seven beloved godchildren - Edna, Cherie, Tressa, Christopher, Shyron, Kendall and Bralen - each of whom she loved as her own. Shanna’s love knew no boundaries, and she leaves behind a family forever blessed by her nurturing heart and joyful spirit.
Shanna was preceded in death by her beloved father, Curtis Nunez, and by James Duddleston, the father of her son, Garrett. Although their marriage ended, they remained forever connected through the son they loved, and James always held a special place in Shanna’s heart.
The family would also like to express their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Kiristie Bertrand and Tressa Miller. Kiristie's unwavering love and selfless devotion during Shanna's illness and Tressa's compassion, support, and guidance throughout the overwhelming process of arrangements became an immeasurable blessing. The family will forever be grateful for the love they both so generously gave and the lasting impact they made on Shanna's final days.
Though words cannot measure the loss felt by those who loved her, they find comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
