Sharon Mulgrew

September 2, 1952 — June 19, 2025

Sharon Ann Mulgrew passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was surrounded by her loving family, who comforted her with treasured memories, songs, and many prayers until she was gently called home to her Lord.

Born on September 2, 1952, in Texas, but raised in Clayton, New Mexico, Sharon was the first of two daughters of Billy and Isabel Carroll. Billy worked as the local manager and deliveryman for Red Ball Motor Freight while Isabel worked in the office. Sharon graduated from Clayton High School in 1970.

Though New Mexico was only the first chapter of her life, Sharon was a natural storyteller, and carried the old characters and humorous stories of Clayton with her wherever she went.

In 1972, she welcomed her son, Pearre Davenport, who became the center of her world. Just a few years later, they relocated to Canyon Lake, California, where life began to truly flourish.

In 1986, she married Roy Mulgrew, the love of her life, an adventure which lasted for 27 years. They loved boating Canyon Lake, and spent many good times beach camping in their trailer at San Clemente. Together, they owned and operated Advantage Printing, a successful independent print shop. Committed to supporting their community, they hired formerly incarcerated individuals, helping them reintegrate and rebuild their lives.

In 2006, Roy and Sharon said goodbye to their California dream and relocated to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where their son Pearre was completing his medical residency at the local hospital before opening the Davenport Medical Clinic. The birth of her grandson Connor in 2010 brought immense joy and a renewed sense of purpose, filling her life with a love that would endure for the rest of her days.

Sharon experienced deep sorrow with her husband Roy's passing in 2014, followed by the heartbreaking loss of her son Pearre to a rare disease in 2015. Through these profound challenges, Sharon's response was to continue living a life dedicated to serving those she loved.

Her legacy ultimately rests in the way she treated others. Her door was always open, providing shelter and grace to multiple generations of family without asking for anything in return.

She loved the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, and staying up all night baking cookies with her grandkids. She never forgot a friend and always encouraged the dreams and ideas of the young people in her life.

God Only Knows what we'd be without her.

Survivors include her sister, Linda Shadeck of Arizona; brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna Mulgrew of California; daughter-in-law, Nichole Davenport; grandchildren, Connor Davenport, Ethan Carroll, Caitlin Breaux, and Gavin Labiche, all of Louisiana. She was blessed with four great grandchildren and is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
