Iowa – Sheron J. Singletary, 79, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, in a Houston hospital surrounded by her family.
Sheron was born in Sulphur on July 5, 1936, to the late Howell and Viola M. (Savant) Johnson. She was a graduate of Sulphur High and McNeese State University and taught for over 30 years at Lacassine High School. She was an avid supporter of the Lacassine Cardinals. She was a member of Iowa United Methodist Church, where she was in the church choir, UMW and Quilters Club. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and being able to attend her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities, as well as serving her Lord and being an active member of her church.
Survivors are her son, Bryan Singletary and wife, LaDonna, of Iowa; daughter, Renee Hardy of Iowa; sisters, Cynthia Hebert of Katy, TX and Pam Cary and husband, Shannon, of Sulphur; grandchildren, Jody Singletary and wife, Kenzie, Jill Leger and husband, Terry, and Ross Hardy, all of Iowa; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Addisyn and Gracie Jo. Preceding her in death was her brother-in-law, Johnny Hebert, and nephew, John Howell Hebert.
Funeral services will be in Iowa United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. with Rev. David DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday in the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Services are under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
