Sherrill McPherson LaFleur, 80, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. She was born on December 16, 1945, in Kinder, Louisiana to Louis McPherson and Della Mae Buller.
Sherrill was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother whose life was centered around her faith, and her family. For many years, she worked as a talented hairdresser, serving many women in her community.
A faithful member of Eastwood Pentecostal Church for 59 years, Sherrill's life was a testimony of unwavering faith. One of her favorite memories was the day she and her husband stopped to help a man with a flat tire on his Volkswagen Beetle. That man, Brother Ewing, invited them to church that very night-an invitation that would shape the course of her life and faith for decades to come.
Sherrill shared a beautiful love story with her husband of 56 years, Richard C. LaFleur. The two first met at a newsstand in Lake Charles where Sherrill worked, and from that moment on, their lives were intertwined in love and devotion until his passing.
She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially time spent with her family. Sherrill loved camping and traveling in the family motorhome, creating countless memories with her children and, later, her grandchildren-whom she lovingly began taking on trips even more often than her own children. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lynette Phillips, Sandra Queen Kroske and husband Michael, and Brian Paul LaFleur; her grandchildren, Elliott Phillips and wife Britney, Zachary Phillips, Andrew Queen and wife Brianne, Tyson Queen and wife Taylor, and Kyle Queen and wife April; and her great-grandchildren, Paisley Phillips, Reyna Vincent, Rorie Phillips, Eli Phillips, Kaiden Phillips, Baylor Phillips, Will Queen, Asher Queen, Tyce Queen, and Toren Queen.
She is also survived by her siblings, Larry McPherson and wife Sunelle, Fanny Leger and husband Monte, Wanda Bertrand, and Geraldine Ellidge and husband Ralph.
Sherrill was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard C. LaFleur, her parents, Louis McPherson and Della Mae Buller, and her brother Grifford Granger.
A funeral service for Sherrill will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM with a graveside service to follow at Green Oaks Cemetery in Kinder, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and last until the start of the service.
