Shirley Ann Feucht Broussard has completed a life guided by Christ, and took her last earthly breaths on April 19, 2026.
She lived each day of her life with humility, happiness, and spirituality. She consistently and enthusiastically found the joy in life, regardless of her stage in it, or her surroundings. Most people that came to know Shirley truly thought of her as a sweet, friendly, generous and elegant lady. She always loved and enjoyed her time spent with people, especially with family.
Born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on March 27, 1935 to Joe and Eola Feucht, she grew up in the heart of Acadiana. After completing her Undergraduate education and receiving a BA from The University of Southwest Louisiana, she met her future husband Alfred Broussard in Lake Charles, La. It's there that they fell in love and were married on April 15, 1961. Together they settled and raised their family in Lake Charles. They were wed for 54 years until her husband preceded her in death by 16 years.
She is survived by her children Jennifer, Mitch, Gary (Candy sp.), and Jeff (Jenny sp.); her grandchildren Austin, Madison, Sydney, Gabrielle, Ryan, Evan, and Aiden; great-grandchildren Banks, Adeline, and Kent. She is also survived by siblings Richard Feucht, Gayle Capps, and Cathy Savoy.
Shirley spent her young life as a parent raising children, but did not miss out on making many friends. She became a member of the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority, Epsilon Alpha Chapter in town. She as well as her family enjoyed their social fellowship. She not only did a fabulous job raising her children and creating a superb home. She also spent most of her free time exploring her many artistic talents, including painting, floral arranging, sewing, wreath making, and gardening. She was an avid member and active participant in the Lake Charles Garden Club for 20 plus years. In that club she served as president 1991-1993 and 1995-1997. She won awards for her floral arrangements and used her talents to help raise money for the Club. She also found time to devote to her home Church, Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish, as a lay minister and as a member of the Altar Society.
Her final five years were spent at Morning Pointe memory care facility in Knoxville, TN. She never missed out on daily activities and opportunities to socialize and be a friend to all. She was loved by everyone there.
Shirley saw her life as a gift, but she was indeed a gift to others who knew her. She had a beautiful soul, and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend. She has left our midst but will be remembered always by everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home Lake Charles on Friday, May 1st, 5pm-8pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, May 2nd at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with graveside services at Consolata Cemetery to follow. There will be a receiving of friends immediately afterward at OLQH Family Life Center.
I lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lake Charles Garden Club in her name.
