Shirley Renee Prejean

June 28, 1962 — May 19, 2024

Shirley Renee Prejean, born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 28, 1962, daughter of the late Franklin D. Guillory Sr., and Sarah Benninger Clements, passed away after a lengthy illness in her home on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the age of sixty-one.

Shirley, a graduate of Iowa High School, was a certified pharmacy technician at Millers Pharmacy, a certified EMT, and volunteered for the Iowa Fire Department for several years. She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church. Always kind and caring, Shirley put others first, especially her grandbabies. She enjoyed arts, crafts, and shopping.

Her brave and courageous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Franklin D. Guillory, Jr.; nephew, Joshua Ray Holland, and stepmother, Alice Guillory.

Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband of thirty-six years, Curtis Prejean; children, Robert Anthony Guillory, and Ashley Nichole Mazilly (Rodney); siblings, Verna Guillory, Johnny Guillory (Cathy), and Leonard Guillory; grandchildren, Draven Reuter, Hadlee and Jett Mazilly, and the Prejean family.

Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1 p.m. Pastor Alan Weishampel, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday in the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and will resume Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, especially Amber and Heather, as well as the entire nursing staff for the excellent care they gave to Shirley.
