Sidney (Sid) Ray Cox

July 1, 1946 — January 31, 2022

Sidney (Sid) Ray Cox, born in Dallas, Texas on July 1, 1946, son of the late Sidney A. and Doris (Wilkey) Cox, passed away in a local hospital Monday, January 31, 2022, at the age of 75.

Sid received an associate degree from Tarrant Community College in Criminology. He worked at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport as a Policeman and Firefighter for 33 years. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, in which his love for his country only grew greater. In his spare time, Sid enjoyed performing classic country music, golfing, fishing, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and most of all being with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father as well as his brother, James E. Cox, and his grandson Austin O. Yates.

Sid is survived by his wife, Dolores Cox of 30 years; children, Hollis Cox (Debbie) of Frankston, Texas; Chris Lovell (Kyndel) of Cleburne, Texas; Tammy Lovell (Keith) of Cleburne, Texas; Tina Cox (Jason) of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Robert Cox (Jennifer F.) of Murchison, Texas, and Brian Cox (Colleen) of Iowa; siblings, R. C. Cox (Tyra) of Scurry, Texas; Frances Janek of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; along with numerous friends and fans.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm. at the Pleasant Oak Baptist Church, 412 N. Masters Drive, Dallas, TX. 75217. The inurnment will be held Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:00 am., Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX. 75211

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Heart Association in the name of Sidney (Sid) Ray Cox.
