Silton John Leger, 75, of Gillis passed away at 4:00 AM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in the comfort of his residence.
Mr. Leger was born on December 7, 1949 in Eunice, LA and lived all of his life in Gillis where he was a 1970 graduate of Sam Houston High School. Upon graduation, he served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. Following his service, he worked as a machinist for PPG Industries for 36 years, dedicating his career to his craft and colleagues. Mr. Leger was a devoted member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and active in the Knights of Columbus.
He found great joy in the simple things of life. He loved cutting grass, being outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many of his happiest times were spent at his deer lease, especially hunting alongside his grandson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Jennifer Leger; his sons, Chris Leger (Felicia) and Kevin Leger; sister, Joyce Anderson (Jim Bob); beloved grandson, Johnathon Leger; sister-in-law, Carol Leger; and his furry companion, Tia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Leger and his siblings, Milbon Leger, Norma Boudreaux, Wilbert Leger, Allen Leger, and Jimmy Leger.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 1:00 PM.
