Silvin Ray Soileau, Sr., 90, of Sulphur, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 17, 2016 with his family at his side.
Silvin was a life-long resident of the Lake Charles area and a graduate of LaGrange High School. He retired from Southern Pacific Transport after 46 years of loyal service. Mr. Soileau honorably served our country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was of the Catholic faith, the optimist club, charter member of the Westlake Rider’s club, charter member of the American Paint Horse Association. Silvin enjoyed raising cattle and race horses and loved reading and traveling. He and his wife traveled to all 48 contiguous states and Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Everrett and Mable Perrottie Soileau; brother, Gerald Soileau; sons, Lonny Soileau and Terry Soileau; and wife of 42 years, Cleo Louvier Solieau. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Alice Mae Soileau; daughters, Cheri Sue Soileau, Westlake and Deborah Jones and husband Bert of Sacramento, CA; sons, Silvin Ray Soileau, Jr. and wife Bridgett, DeRidder, Ferrell Soileau and wife Bobbie, DeQuincy, Alan Banker and wife Peggy, Martinsburg, West Virginia; sisters, Matherine Nichols, Houston, TX and Brenda Heitman, Lake Charles; fifteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday December 19, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home with an ACTS rosary to be observed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Westlake Memorial Gardens.
