Stephen Carl Mouton, known by everyone as "Mouton," passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on February 11, 1967, Mouton lived life loudly, lovingly, and with a heart that never stopped giving.
Mouton was the kind of man who made an impression everywhere he went. Playful by nature, he loved picking on the people he cared about most and talking trash just to make everyone laugh. If he teased you, you knew he loved you. His sense of humor and loyalty made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.
He loved fishing, cooking, and especially eating surrounded by the people he loved. Whether he was in the kitchen making a meal or out on the water, Mouton found joy in all areas of life. But nothing brought him greater happiness than his family.
A husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Mouton always made sure his family was taken care of no matter the circumstance. He was the type of man who would give the shirt off his back to make sure someone else had what they needed. A true giver at heart, he never hesitated to help anyone in need.
His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he spoiled them every chance he got. His love for his family could be seen in everything he did-even walking out of his own hospital visit just to make sure he made it to his daughter's birthday party on time.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Egland Mouton; his daughters, Alexandria Marie Small and Alana Nichole Mouton; his siblings, Joel Mouton (Patricia), Patrick J. Mouton (Cynthia), Donna Jacobs (Gregory), and Michelle Antoinette Mouton Celestine (Richard); his grandchildren, Trinity, Cameron, Dallas, Layla, and Tristen; his godchildren, Sierra Collins and Frankie Griffin; a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and his lifelong friend and brother, Chris Pappillion.
Mouton was preceded in death by his parents, Hebert Mouton Jr. and Fritzgerald Baker Mouton; and his son, Andrew Jordan Mouton.
A funeral service for Mouton will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the start of the service. Cremation will follow after the service.
Mouton will be remembered as a man who loved hard, laughed loud, gave freely, and stood by the people he loved no matter what. His memory will live on in the countless stories, laughs, and love shared by all who knew him.
