Steven Richard Wells

Steven “Steve/Papa Smurf” Richard Wells, 72, of Sulphur passed away on March 19, 2020 in a local hospital. He was a lifelong truck driver and was also the owner of the Smurf’s Den for many years. He enjoyed being around his family and his friends, loved to ride motorcycles and cheering on the New Orleans Saints.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967-1974 doing two tours of duty in Vietnam, from which he was awarded a purple heart.

 Steve is survived by his three children, Selena Cooley and husband Cary of Merryville, La, Rodney Wells and wife Nichole of DeQuincy, La and Renee’ Wells; four grandchildren, Harlee, Kylie, Cael, and Zayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Theresa Tutton.

Please join us in celebrating the life of a wonderful son, father, grandfather, and most of all a loving friend.  His services will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral home in Sulphur, LA.
