Stuart Thomas Biven, 68, passed away on June 11, 2025, in Geismar, Louisiana. Born on May 31, 1957, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Stuart was the beloved son of Wilbur Biven and Ruth Broussard Biven.
A proud graduate of Barbe High School, Stuart was part of the school's very first four-year graduating class. During his high school years, he played trumpet in the Barbe High School Band, even traveling to Europe with the ensemble, an experience he cherished for the rest of his life.
Stuart was a lifelong and devoted member of Sale Street Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon. His unwavering faith, quiet strength, and gentle spirit were evident to all who knew him.
He built a career as an Electrical and Instrument Designer at Hargrove Engineering, where he was respected not only for his expertise but for his kindness and work ethic.
At the age of 19, Stuart faced a life-changing accident that resulted in the loss of his right foot. Yet he met this challenge with courage and resilience, never allowing it to define or limit him. His perseverance was a testament to the strength of his character.
Stuart was a man of many talents and joys. He found peace in fishing and expressed his creativity through drawing. He had a warm sense of humor, a gentle demeanor, and a calm presence that made others feel at ease. He always seemed to know just what to say, offering wisdom and comfort with sincerity and grace.
Above all, Stuart cherished his family. He and his beloved wife of 46 years, Janet Louise Mitchell Biven, shared a deep bond rooted in friendship and love. Together, as best friends, they built a beautiful life and raised a family that was the center of Stuart's world.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his daughter, Elizabeth Biven O'Neill (Shane); his son, Aaron Thomas Biven; and his cherished grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth O'Neill (fiancé Ethan Broussard) and Colin Patrick O'Neill. He also leaves behind his brother, Donald Bruce Biven (Linda); his sister, Ruth Biven Manuel (John); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to honor Stuart's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, with Rev. Drew Mills officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and will resume on Monday at 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
The Biven family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Stuart's employer, Hargrove Engineering, for their kindness, support, and compassion during this time.
