Mrs. Porché was born on February 13, 1946 in Lake Charles where she lived most of her life. She was recognized for her dedication with the Excellence in Reading Teacher of the Year Award in 1990-91. She was also recognized for her 36 years of faithful service in 2004.
Suzanne was a strong woman of the Catholic faith, and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. She took pleasure in reading and praying the rosary. Trips to Europe were special highlights that included France, Spain, Italy, Medjugorje, Prague and Ireland. Travels with her husband, Glenn were made extra special together in their motor home. They once decided to extend their visit to Nova Scotia, where they stayed for several springs and summers. There, they enjoyed meeting and making new friends, visits from their Louisiana family, gardening and developing a deeper love for their Acadian roots. Suzanne’s days were enriched with her family, and her two dogs, T-Bay and Suavé.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her loving husband of 48 years, Norman Glenn Porche’ of Lake Charles; her children, Kim Porché Sillyman (Randy) and Philip Porché, both of Lake Charles; her grandchildren, Savannah Sillyman Lape (Wes) and Gabrielle Sillyman Reising (Justin); her great grandchildren, Addisyn, Thompson and Davis Lape, all of Charlotte, NC; and her siblings, Stephanie Cousté (Tom), Melanie Pesson, both of Lake Charles, Venise Ortego (Rick) of Lafayette, LA, and John Knight, of Galveston, TX.
