Sylvia Gary Hartwell
August 8, 1935 — February 22, 2018
Sylvia Gary Hartwell, born on August 8, 1935, the daughter of Olemar and Inez (Hardy) Gary, passed away in a local care facility Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the age of 82.
Sylvia was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She worked for the Medical Arts Group and Hydrovac as office manager for each. Her interests included collecting books, as she was an avid reader, going to garage sales, playing Pokeno and being with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Sibille (Kevin), Leslie Hartwell, both of Hayes, Dennis Hartwell (Melody) of Lake Charles, Scotty Hartwell (Lauren) of Bell City; sister, Mary Marting; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Harold R. Hartwell; grandson, Chase Edwards; brother, James Gary and parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John Vianney Catholic Church – Bell City on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. with Father John Payne as celebrant. Burial will follow in Lorrain DeRouen Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa. Visitation is Sunday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice and Golden Age of Welsh for the excellent care given to their mom.
