Tamah Leone Williams Goad, 75, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, under the amazing care of Harbor Hospice following a brief illness.
Tamah was born on May 10, 1950, in Glasgow, Kentucky. However, with a father who was both in the military and a pastor in the First Christian Church, she has lived all over the United States. She was a 1968 graduate of Sulphur High School and went on to college, obtaining several Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from both McNeese State and Loyola Universities. Throughout her life, she was passionate about many things: playing the piano, guitar, tennis, dominos, SCUBA, snorkeling, bowling, bridge, and so much more. Above all, her greatest passion was teaching music, especially piano. She lived for her students and absolutely loved watching them succeed through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Loren E. Williams, II (Glasgow, KY) and Leone Holland Williams (Linden, TX), and her brothers, James Robert Williams (Glasgow, KY) and Loren E. Williams III (Sulphur, LA). She leaves to honor and cherish her memories: her nieces, Lori Miller (Tim) and Jon’ Patrice Jones (Chris), both of Sulphur; 7 great nieces & nephews; 6 great-great nieces and nephews; her extended family: Dawn, Dennis, & Morgan Pilcher (Texas) and Misty, David, Cambell, & Lleyton Head (Michigan); her beloved dog Pete; as well as a numerous list of musicians, students, bridge buddies, & her besties “the coffee ladies”.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, concluding at 3:00 PM with a Memorial service officiated by the Rev. Mitzi George and Rev. Boo Kay. Burial will take place at the family section of Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly at a later date.
The family requests that all donations be made in her memory to the McNeese State University Music Department in lieu of flowers.
