Tammy Vincent, 61, of Moss Bluff passed away at 1:36 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2026 in a local hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Baton Rouge on May 10, 1965, Tammy was raised in Denham Springs. She moved to Lake Charles in 1992 and later settled in Moss Bluff in 1997, where she spent the remainder of her life building a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished traditions.
Tammy earned her Registered Nursing degree from Northwestern State University and dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She began her nursing career at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in 1992, where she became known not only for her skill and compassion but also for her unwavering advocacy for vulnerable patients.
One of Tammy's most enduring professional legacies was the founding of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Through her vision and dedication, survivors of sexual assault were provided a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed place to receive care and support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Even after retiring in 2024, Tammy continued her advocacy work. She played a role in advancing HB 579 Sexual Assault Bill of Rights, which was signed into law by Governor Jeff Landry on June 1, 2026.
Outside of her career, Tammy found joy in life's simple and beautiful moments. She loved tending to her large garden, watching birds from her yard, and collecting treasured knick-knacks. She and her husband shared a daily tradition of playing backgammon every morning.
Tammy was also an avid journaler who carefully documented her life, her family, and the moments she never wanted to forget. Her home reflected her creativity and enthusiasm for celebration, as she decorated elaborately for every holiday and made every season feel special.
Above all else, Tammy's greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren were truly her world. She delighted in celebrating their accomplishments, creating annual traditions, and making memories that will be treasured for generations.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 19 years, Billy Vincent; children, Tiffany "Nikki" Bailey-Duhon (Chad) and William Daniel Bailey (Laikin); parents, Sheila and Charles Euculano; sister, Cara Cuming Walters; grandchildren, Reese Bailey, Avery Duhon, Kaidian Hebert, James Duhon, and Levi Sullivan; and her furry companion, Snoop Dog "Snoopy."
She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Mincey, Jr.; a brother, Thommas Mincey; maternal grandparents, Elbert and Virginia Facundus; paternal grandparents, Orville, Sr. and Audrey Mincey; and an aunt, Sandy Burger.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Pastor Terry Ardizzone will officiate. Cremation will follow the service with an inurnment at a later date in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday until 9:00 PM and continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
Immediately following the life celebration, family and friends are invited to gather at CrossRoads Church in Moss Bluff for a continued celebration and refreshments. The family hopes all who knew Tammy will stop by, share stories, and help celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
