Tanya Marie Trahan Broussard, 55, of Bell City passed away at 9:23 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2025 with her loving husband by her side holding her hand.
Born on May 22, 1970, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Tanya lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, and service to others. She was a graduate of South Cameron High School and went on to further her education at McNeese State University, where she earned two master’s degrees in Library Science and Technology.
She dedicated 28 years of her professional life to Cameron and Calcasieu Parish Schools, serving faithfully as a librarian and making a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. Known for her gentle spirit, helpful nature, and artistic abilities, she was admired by all who knew her.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith and found strength and guidance in her beliefs. She was also a proud member of the Louisiana Taxidermy Association.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, and cross-stitching. She loved traveling and especially cherished vacations in the snow-covered Colorado Rocky Mountains, as well as trips to Disney World and Gatlinburg.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Todd Broussard; parents, James “Jimmy” Trahan and Iris Trahan; sister, Tricia Blalock (Marcus); grandmother, Gertrude Segura; step sons, Mitchell Broussard (Alexandra) and Michael Broussard; grandchildren, Cerys and Noah Broussard; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother and grandparents, Joseph D. Segura, Alan Boy Trahan, and Lillian Faulk Trahan.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2025 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until leaving for the church at 12:30 PM.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ameer Kahn, and the staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, SAGE Specialty Hospital, and Harbor Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion given to Tanya and her family.
