Terry Bruce Underwood

Terry Bruce Underwood, 77, of Lake Charles, passed away in the early hours of Friday, October 2, 2026. He was born on June 20, 1949, to William and Camille Barnett Underwood.

Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was centered on his faith and his family. He loved the Lord and was a faithful worker in his church, quietly giving his time and serving wherever he was needed. Terry will be remembered in the things that mattered most to him: his faith, the family he loved, the work of his hands, and the quiet, steady way he lived his life.

A man of few words, Terry did not feel the need to say a great deal, but when he spoke, his words carried meaning. He had a strong work ethic and was especially gifted with his hands. A skilled and passionate woodworker, he enjoyed creating things and often put that talent to use making gifts for family and friends. He was also at home in the kitchen and was known as an excellent cook.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda Lormand Underwood; three sons, Mark Underwood, David Underwood and wife Leslie, and Paul Underwood and wife Kimberly; six grandchildren, Alexander Underwood, Hannah Underwood, William Underwood and wife Paigge, Benjamin Underwood and wife Victoria, Stephen Underwood and wife Maddie, and Nathan Underwood; four great-grandchildren, Opall Underwood, Owenn Underwood, Elodie Underwood, and Rae Underwood; and his sister, Vicki Rigby.

Terry’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake Street, with Rev. Barrett Navarre presiding. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 7, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and will resume on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Underwood, David Underwood, Paul Underwood, Alexander Underwood, William Underwood, Benjamin Underwood, and Nathan Underwood.
