Tessie May, 95, of Lake Charles, LA died on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.
Tessie was born on May 10, 1921 in Mermentau, LA to John and Cecile Guidry. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she volunteered counting Sunday’s church offerings for many years. She retired from McCall’s Farm Supply after forty years of service and later retiring from First National Bank. Tessie graduated from Sulphur High School. She volunteered for Abrahams Tent for many years. Tessie will be remembered for her witty comebacks, cooking, telling jokes and being around family. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening. Tessie and her husband James served as past Commissioner’s for the local election polling centers for over fifty years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 34 years, James “Jimmy’ Woodrow May; and six siblings, Irene Guidry Lust, Bernice Guidry Bonnin, Winfield “Billy” Guidry, Tunnie Guidry Showalter, Hanson Guidry, and Wilbur Guidry.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin from 11:00 AM until time of service. Rev. Weldon Bares will officiate services. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
