Do to others as you would have them do to you Luke 6:31
Theresa Huval Thibodeaux was taken to her heavenly home, by her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on April 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Theresa was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. While residing there she met and later married the love of her life, Phil Thibodeaux, in 1961 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church. They enjoyed many years of marriage, until Phil's death in 2016. She was an active member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, where she served diligently.
After a few years they relocated to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1972 where they started a business (Lake City Pest Control), from humble means. Together, they proved that anything is possible, with tremendous effort, hard work and God's blessing. Theresa maintained the office and Phil did the legwork, by servicing clients. Together, they proved that the American Dream was indeed possible.
For many years Theresa enjoyed camping in their motorhome, at several State Parks, and eventually made a trip to Canada. She enjoyed charter membership in the Krewe de la Noblesse of Lake Charles, Lake Charles Hi-Noon Lions Club and recently, many years as an active member of Chapeaux Rouge Du Lac (Red Hat Society of Lake Charles). Visiting historical homes was also favored by her, and anything to do with history.
Other pleasures were helping with any home projects, and staying productive, to consistently make things better. Shopping for antiques, especially Fenton Hobnail Milk glass and porcelain figurines, made her extremely happy.
Decorating her Christmas tree, every year was always a highlight, and she required all of the gifts to be wrapped in the same paper, without question.
Theresa will be fondly remembered for her annual Christmas candy, where she would spend hours, preparing with love, in order to gift customers, friends and family. The recipients looked forward to this each year.
Living life to the fullest proved her appreciation for the gift of life. One could usually find her as the "life of the party", where her humor and laughter were appreciated by most. She portrayed a giving spirit, by continually recognizing opportunities to help others. Leaving things better than she found them was frequently her goal, for which she passed this example on to her children. Theresa was the true matriarch of her family, and she will be greatly missed...there is no other that compares to the uniqueness, to which God made her...she truly was "one of a kind".
Theresa absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Gisela Sanders (Alton), Scot Thibodeaux and Rusty Thibodeaux (Claire). Grandchildren, Ethan Lewis and Randi Sanders (Boyd) and great grandchildren, Kash Joseph Mamolo, June Olivia Mamolo and Riggs Matthew Mamolo (on the way).
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Phil Thibodeaux and granddaughter, Megan Amber Lewis.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Harbour Hospice of Lake Charles, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital who were directly responsible for excellent patient care.
Private services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
