Dr. Thomas Bryan “Tom” Ford, 72, of Lake Charles, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 11, 2025, at his residence.
Tom was born February 28, 1953, a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He graduated in 1971 from Lake Charles High School and attended McNeese State University, before being accepted into the LSU Medical School in New Orleans under the early admissions program. After graduation he completed a one-year general surgery and a four-year Orthopedic Surgery residency program at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. He then returned to Lake Charles, where he began his career in 1983 with Drs. David Drez and Clark Gunderson. He served his patients and co-workers with care and compassion and was deeply devoted to his work and family. His kindness and love were always evident and extended to always helping others.
While not at work, he deeply enjoyed his time hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife and cooking for his friends and family. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, serving at the Big Lake Chapel nearly every Sunday.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Dr. Patrick and Mary Bryan Ford and father-in-law, Lionel “T-Boy” Labove. He leaves to his memories, his devoted wife, Sheila LaBove Ford; children, Logan Ford and wife Lillian; Meredith Brassette and husband Kevin; Justin Newman and Aaron Newman and wife Taylor; grandchildren, Camille, Jonas and Graham Brassette; Landry Reed and Jolee Newman; mother-in-law, Delores LaBove; siblings, Tim Ford and wife Janet; Ted Ford and wife Becky; Terry Ford and wife Sarah; Tricia Cutrer and husband Jim; and Tanya Pemberton and husband David; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.
A Gathering of friends and family will begin on Saturday June 14, 2025, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles at 9:00 AM and will conclude with a Celebration of his life at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Boo Kay will officiate services. Private family inurnment will be at a later date at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Memorial remembrances may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd or the organization of the donor’s choice.
