Thomas Joseph “Tommy” Menard, 75, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 in a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Menard was born May 04, 1946 in Lafayette, LA to Malcom and Bernadette Himel Menard. He lived most his younger years in Houston, LA and in 1970 made Lake Charles home. He retired a supervisor with over twenty-five years in delivery for Evangeline Maid Bread and Huval Baking Company. Mr. Menard loved going dancing. He could dance to anything, but he really enjoyed 50’s music, the sounds of Motown, and especially Cajun/Zydeco. He loved sports and cheering on his favorites teams, the Houston Astros and the Houston Oilers of the 80’s. He enjoyed watching old comedy sitcoms like The Andy Griffith Show. Nothing made him happier than watching Sandford and Son and quoting it line by line with his son Bryan. Although they separated over 30 years ago, Mr. Menard had an incredible relationship with Mary, the mother of his four children. Especially the last several years as she was his caregiver before moving into assisted living. Mr. Menard will be remembered as an admirable man of his generation with a great influence and devotion to his family.
He leaves to honor his memory, two sons, Bryan Menard of and Keith Menard; one daughter, Cheré Richard; twenty grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Christopher, Patricia Astolfo and Sharon Menard; former wife and friend, Mary Barnes and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Cleve Menard.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Christ Community Church. Reverend Rick McClain will officiate.
