Austin

Thomas Arthur LaRocque, 75, passed away on August 6, 2026. Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, he lived the last 15 years of his life in Austin, Texas.

Mr. LaRocque was a proud graduate of Landry Memorial High School. Throughout his working years, he dedicated his time to Calcasieu Parish Mosquito Control and later worked in Operations at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

His resourcefulness was one of the many qualities that made him so special. The "go to guy" everyone turned to when something needed fixing. Mr. LaRocque could always figure out a way to fix it or rig up a solution. He would work patiently until he found a way to repair, rebuild, or create an improvised solution, no matter what. More importantly, he was known for his kind and generous heart. Outgoing by nature, he rarely met a stranger and always had a story to tell. His warmth, humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Kay Moore LaRocque of Austin, TX; his children, Brandy Gate of Sulphur, LA, Paul LaRocque of Lake Charles, LA, and Tamra LaRocque and husband Asher Knutson of Austin; cherished grandchildren, James Markwick of Louisburg, KS; Belle LaRocque of Austin; Ellie Manual and Parker LaRocque, both of Lake Charles; Noah Gowe of Austin; Slade Virgadamo and Sarah Ann Dofflemyer (Gabriel), both of Sulphur and one great-grandson, Samuel Dofflemyer.

Mr. LaRocque also leaves his siblings, Paula Lawlis and Susan Jackson, both of Lake Charles, and Jay LaRocque of Massachusetts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. LaRocque and Francis Rosteet LaRocque; his sister, Sarah Ann LaRocque and his brothers-in-law, Jim Lawlis and Charlie "T-Man" Jackson.

In respect of his wishes, family will gather privately for a celebration of memories.
