Thomas Nathan “Buster” Brashear, born December 22, 1936, son of the late Louis and Sallie (LeFranc) Brashear, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the age of 86.
A graduate of Fenton, Buster worked for 31 years with Shell Oil. He enjoyed tending to his cattle, working in the hayfield, hunting, and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed being home with his family. He and his wife Betty were members of St. Raphael Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Inez, Thelma, Vernice, Elwell, LeRoy, Herbert, Carson, Shirley, Christine, Lola, Dorothea, Lucille, Waldon, and great-granddaughter, Alexis Grace Mercer.
Survivors are his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Brashear; children, Thomas “Tommy” Brashear, Jr. (Denise), Kimberly “Kim” Talbot (Bennett); and John Brashear (Belinda); grandchildren, Amber Buller Perry (Kevin), Casey Mercer, Kade Brashear, Morgan Talbot Ardoin (Jaret), Kyle Mercer, Kelsey Brashear Fisher (Colt), and Kolbie Brashear Richard (Justin); great- grandchildren, Kaegen Perry, Aiden Perry, Bryce Richard, Landon Richard, James Mercer, Avery Mercer, Quaid Fisher, Kullen Richard, and Mazie Lou Ardoin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Burial will follow in LeFranc Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Friday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
