Thomas "T.R." Anthony Robertson, 65, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by the love of his dear family on Wednesday March 25, 2026.
Known to most as Tom or T.R., he was a beloved husband, father, pawpaw, brother, coach, and friend. In his youth, Tom lived in the Oak Park Community and was a member of the Junior Putters Association at the Putt-Putt Golf Course on Highway 14, a place filled with fond memories and lifelong connections. He was a proud 1979 graduate of Lake Charles High School. His passion for community carried into adulthood, where he dedicated many years as "Coach Tom" and he served as a past league president of the ASA slow-pitch softball league at the Henry Heights fields, impacting countless young lives with his leadership, encouragement, and guidance. Tournament softball brought Tom great joy as it took him and his daughters on countless trips across the Gulf Coast over many summers, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Tom enjoyed traveling to Gulf Shores, Alabama with his family, where some of their most treasured moments were made. He always made sure the kids had an ice cream cone before they went to sleep and could often be found with a deck of cards playing Solitaire at the dining room table.
Alongside his wife, Lisa, he co-owned Montana's Smokehouse in downtown Lake Charles in the early 2000s. Tom retired from his position as Vice President of Idora Inc. in 2024, completing more than 42 years of service. He spent the last few years in a role he cherished the most, being a grandfather of six. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of love including his wife of 42 years, Lisa Robertson; his daughters, Mallory Roberston Slagle (Isaac Corbello) and Megan Robertson Koetter (Dustin Romero); his cherished grandchildren, Stormie Robertson, Safara Robertson, Jaxon Koetter, Billy Reese Slagle, Grayson Romero, and Oakley Romero; his sister, Karen Davis (Jim), his mother-in-law, Margie Thom, his brothers-in-law, Greg Simpson and John Thom III, his sisters-in law, Debbie Simpson and Tammy Thom, and a numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Annette Robertson, his father-in-law, John Thom Jr., and one angel grandchild, Baby Romero. Tom will be most remembered for his devotion and commitment to family and the countless lives he touched through his coaching, mentorship, and friendship. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has prayed for and uplifted Tom and his loved ones during his brief illness.
The family also wishes to express a deep thank you to St. Joseph Hospice for the tender care they provided during the family's time of need.
His funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake Street, with Father Nathan Long presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
