Thomas Ray "Tommy” Benoit, 84, born on May 1, 1938 in Gumpoint LA to Norbert and Grace Benoit, passed away on December 7, 2022.
He moved to Evangeline, LA on August 29, 1947 and was a lifelong resident.
He was a devoted member of New Life Tabernacle of Jennings, Louisiana. He never met a stranger, loved to fish, and loved his family. He was a jokester and loved to laugh and make other people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life for 61 years, Nelarine Benoit; granddaughters, Jennifer Benoit, and Holly Parsley; brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Jan Benoit, and brother-in-law, Royce Simar.
He is survived by his children, Tammy (Craig) Parsley, Kevin (Stacey) Benoit, Derrin (Rebecca) Benoit and Darla Benoit; grandchildren, Chuck Parsley, Shyla (Chris) Eason, Brittany (Casey) Rider, Sydney (Tyler) Parrish, Ashton and Leanne Benoit, Jill (Ed) Henderson, Haylie Benoit and Beth Benoit, Bryce and Makayla Clay; great-grandchildren, Anthony (Daphne) Eason, Lillyonna and Connor Eason, Keegan, Kane, Jerrett, and Kara Parsley, Cameron, Jackson and Amber Henderson, Ethan and Meagan Reeves, Brantley, Liam and Amos Parrish; great-great-grandchildren, Xavier and Coraline Eason; brother, C.J. (Veronica) Benoit; and sister, Betty Simar.
Funeral services are Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 1 p.m. in Hope Church in Evangeline with the Revs. Thomas Patterson, Carrol Dunn, Kevin, and Derrin Benoit officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation is Saturday in Hope Church from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume Sunday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Bryce Clay, Chris Eason, Connor Eason, Chris Clay, Ralph Benoit, and Derek Benoit. Honorary pallbearers are Makayla Clay, Leanne Benoit, Cameron and Jackson Henderson and Ethan Reeves.
